Anne, when my 'therapist' in the local camera shop said he could sell me this lens for $ 100 I thought, "This is Olympus, how bad can it be?" So I bought it and took some time to take some test shots against sovereign Olympus 14-54. The 40-150 is beautifully executed, it is nice and crisp, and nothing I could do anything given plume. The edges are very sharp enough, I was just mumbling WOW. Focus and zoom seems on par with the 14-54: smooth and fast. Is 4.0 to 5.6 I think there is so much glass in the lens is very light. It may be an advantage when you need an all-purpose, compact, walk-around/travel lens. This is fast becoming my. A note: it has a plastic mounting flange, but the overall build quality is solid. It does not come with a handy case. I think it's the best hundred bucks I ever spent on camera equipment! 10 of 10 people found the following review helpful It's cheap but not cheap by bdgilfry@wildchildpublishing.com Ok, it's cheap. The ring where it attaches to the camera is plastic. But you will use this as a hammer? It's that building that makes this camera a heavyweight in lightweight division, and at an affordable price. Years ago, a lens with this unprecedented rate of expansion (equivalent to 80mm to 300mm). My old Canon lenses with half of that range (and not a better optical quality) of body weight four times. Oh, we're so spoiled in this digital world! But I enjoy spoiled. You will not find a better lens for that price. You can not find a better lens for twice the price of this gem. Other makers of "kit" lenses (lenses are often sold with the camera as a kit) is pulling practically cook, something you get through until you can get your lenses more expensive, it is not. The autofocus is a good color and minimal deviations others. Although they hold and use some very expensive bodies and lenses, this lens is always in my car with my E-520 and 14-42 lens. If a shot comes up, I will not miss the cameras and lenses in house, because this team will handle the situation with great aplomb. 21 of 27 people found this review helpful. Good telephoto lens, but not macro by Joseph A. Tierno I bought this lens to complement the measures 14-42 that came with my Olympus E420. In fact, I paid $ 101 for a local camera store, when Amazon asked $ 300 for it (currently down to $ 128). Main reason I bought it was to get some reasonable power for the TV camera, and the price was definitely right. Although it is a very decent lens for objects 2 meters out, which does not have macro capabilities that I do mostly nature shots, and I find myself constantly changing lenses in places where I would like to see anything fall into the muddy ground . In 150, the power is very good for perspective shots, but not strong enough to hunt wild birds or animals. Looks like I'll be buying more glass in the near future, something like a pancake 12-600 tele macro-automatic infrared UV filter program for 8 ^) Olympus Evolt E420 10MP Digital SLR with 14-42mm f/3.5-5.6 Zuiko See all 39 customer reviews ....
