Canon EF 70-200mm f/4 L IS USM Lens for Canon Digital SLR Cameras

Canon EF 70-200mm f/4L IS USM lens offers the highest possible optical quality with no change in aperture over the full focal range of the lens. This allows photographers to set exposure at the widest aperture and zoom all the way through to 200mm without having to decrease shutter speed. Developed for use with a Canon SLR camera, this autofocus telephoto zoom lens offers optimized use with the Canon EOS series digital cameras. Of particular note, Canon has introduced an image stabilizer (IS) that adjusts to meet the demands of professional photography. IS reduces dramatically the image blur caused by camera shake. Gyro sensors detect unwanted vibrations, triggering the corre sponding movement of a correcting lens group perpendicular to the optical axis. This alters the light path, returning the image to its correct position on the sensor or film plane. For shooting immobile subjects, Mode 1 corrects for movement in the image along both the horizontal and vertical axes. For shooting while panning horizontally to follow a moving subject, Mode 2 turns off vertical correction and prevents the effect of dragging the subject back through the frame. The lens' Ring-type USM employs ultra-sonic frequency vibrations to drive auto focus with unrivalled speed and near-silent operation. A powerful CPU and improved AF algorithm contribute to speed performance. The EF 70-200mm f/4L IS USM includes distance metering information, providing compatibility with the E-TTL II flash system of late model cameras such as the EOS-1D Mark II, EOS-1Ds Mark II, EOS 5D and EOS 400D. When used in conjunction with Canon's range of EX Speedlite flash units, the lens passes dist ance information to the flash algorithm for markedly improved flash exposure metering. Includes Lens hood and soft pouch

Capture the far-off action of fast-paced sports or zoom in for an intimate portrait with the Canon EF 70-200mm telephoto zoom lens. The L-series lens offers an Image Stabilizer that provides up to four stops of shake correction--a first for Canon IS lenses. The use of f luorite UD lens elements, meanwhile, produces an excellent optical performance in terms of resolution and contrast. Add in a sturdy housing with water- and dust-proof construction and you have a lens that's both portable and high performing. Other details include an f/4 maximum aperture, a ring-type ultra-sonic monitor (USM) that enables quick and quiet autofocusing, compatibility with circular polarizing filters, and a lightweight body. The lens carries a one-year warranty. Most useful reviews of 528 524 people found the following review helpful. Image quality of the line king 70-200mm. By Jesse R. Hunter I have owned at one point or another all Canon 70-200mm, with the exception of the 2.8 is not, along with a decent amount of other Canon L glass. Therefore it will be reviewed from the perspective of someone who can decide whether or not this piece of glass to add to your collection L matured or someone who decides on this lens against another 70-200mm. If you place someone who has already decided on this lens and is looking for a last push to the buy button, consider this, and the opinions under 25, if the green light. First, let's talk about the obvious. This lens carries the most advanced in the unit so far, what an incredible four stops of stabilization. In real life, it is indeed the full four stops of stabilization. No kidding. For individuals not moving, this lens is an effective 70-200mm f/1.4 4 for hand-holding ability is concerned, if it detects subject movement, however, that f / 4 is still your true aperture and motion blur is inherent. As for not-so-good obviously has this 70-200mm version, the highest image quality from each of the others are 70-200mm. CA, vignetting, and sharpness is the best with this lens. Lens weight and balance is the best in terms of what it offers: It's only a bit heavier than f / 4 with all that goodness and not even close to as heavy as the 2.8 with its One-Stop Advantage. Bathroom. I always try something I do not like to see with all lenses. For some L lenses, it becomes hard and I have to worry, as with 135mm or 180mm f/3.5L f/2L. This lens is in that categ ory. I would say I like the non-petal lens hood. Yep. That's it. Wish I could say more. For the price, this is really a superior. Let's compare a bit. Against the 70-200mm f/4L, 'baby' line of 70-200mm is half the price of the unit is the company worth the $ 500 ~? Well, to answer that question, you should realize the limitations of f / 4. F / 4 usually means sharp glass that is light and value, good and cheap. But it also means more than light enough for sunny days, but never enough for cloudy days, indoors, just after sunset, just before dawn, during inclement whether, or at any other time when conditions are ideal for shooting great. Then you will use this without a tripod (or flash) than ever these days? If your answer is yes (even if you do, you), you may become frustrated with the f / 4 IS version without time and try to upgrade package, either continuously for a tripod that also have to buy the lens ring tripod. (They do not realize however, that neith er of / 4 IS or not the f / 4 IS will serve you well with regard to domestic action. You will need to go in the chain of / 2.8). ) From my personal experience, the f / 4 IS also offers a greater dynamic range near the lights, a little 'over saturation, and a little less than CA for the f / 4 non-is the f / 2, 8 L IS not: I have never had this, so I can only speak for the statistics and offer a little advice limited. Both are about equal in price, we talk about differences. The f/2.8 is built better (more metal and closed) and comes with a tripod ring (only the hood-shaped petal envious). He shares the assembly kept and image quality nearly equal (the f / 4 IS is slightly sharper). And, of course, you win a stage at the beginning, but losing it is. So which is better? By stat-wise, they are so close, I ask what your intentions are. You are primarily a landscape photographer or a photographer of the event? More photos of your children or more objects in slow motion. These two objectives do little skylights, it is only when you have your pictures little movement in itself, you can do much better with the f / 4 and use a flash if the shots do not contain motion When you do your recordings for almost always.
