The AF 28-300mm F3.5-6.3 MACRO lens covers all the focal lengths from 28mm wide angle to 300mm telephoto with 10.7:1 high zoom ratio as well as macro capability. This lens packs a lot of performance in a compact package with ultra compact dimensions (Diameter 74mm and Length of 86mm) that make it the ultimate traveling companion. Its the ideal lens all types of photography and optimized for digital SLR cameras. The new multi layer lens coating and lens design reduce flare and ghost. SLD Glass elements and Aspherical Lenses in both front and rear lens groups provide excellent correction for all types of aberrations and distortion. The 28-300mm F3.5-6.3 DG MACRO lens has a minimum focusing distance of 19.7 at all focal lengths and is equipped with a macro mechanism for close-up photography at 300mm telephoto, allowing a reproduction ratio of 1:3. An Inner Focusing System is designed to allow for stability and compactness in design as changes in focus are made in an internal lens grouping. This also gives the advantage of a non-rotating front lens assembly, which is ideal for using a circular polarizing filter and Petal-type hood. It's a perfect day lens particularly suitable for photographing outdoor events where there is close and long action. It is made of thin plastic, making it easy to carry, but I would not want to drop - especially if extended to 300mm. Overall I am very happy with my purchase. Focus is slower than my D50 kit lens, and it is noisy but not annoying. The only odd fuction is manual focus, the internal gears are not so loose that you know the acceleration whip when the focus ring feels a bit rough. Nikon model of this lens has a manual focus switch on the lens, remove the gear housing. A bonus with this lens is that it makes good macro photography. I was able to get sharp pictures of flowers at close range with a total blur backgroud. The lens takes a lot of light, but 300mm is not very useful indoors, so it works perfect day for outdoor shots with hot shoe flash lens is very good inside. Zooming is a bit fast for my taste. Only half a revolution of the drum and go 28-300! You must have a gentle touch to get just the right focal length. I bought this lens instead of the Nikon 70-300 G 28-300 is a useful field, but you sacrifice speed (6.3 instead of 5.4 maximum aperture of 300mm). Sigma is lighter and at least half an inch shorter than the Nikon at the smallest focal length. Nikon had to focus and smooth zooming faster. 49 of 52 people found the following review helpful. I like this lens RonAnnArbor I like this lens - although I do find myself with as much as I did for a while. My Nikon 18-200VR has replaced the usefulness of this lens, especially since upgrading to the D200, where the 10 mega pixel gives you 200 points, and then to increase harvests. Again, this is a solid target has a nice size and weight, and focal length is great no trouble discovering both the 28 and 300 focus points, but the sharpest image is between 100 and 200 Fringe angle slightly to 300, but similar to the Nikkor 70-300, so I can not really complain. A good goal for a great price. This has not caught on much with Nikon users as it seems to have gone over like wildfire with the crowd Canon. Recommended. 14 of 14 people found this review helpful. I like the Sigma 28-300 Macro Digital I shoot, I had the lens about a year, was the old body EOS, not a problem with the interface between Canon or Sigma has worked well. I heard about some incompatibilities between Sigma and Canon, but it did not happen for me. Recently purchased the new Canon EOS Elan 7NE, Sigma works perfectly with the body as well. Optically, yes, there is some distortion at some focal lengths, but nothing really awful, the color is excellent, very strong at all really love the lens. Critics of this wide range of lenses not to mention it really is like having a camera bag full of lenses and is always ready for anything, which is a big advantage, and does what he must do pretty well, so if you are considering to take photographs from National Geographic, maybe this is not the case for you, but if you're a guy or girl who loves photograpy, buy it, you can go wrong.
